Abstract

Dengue fever is a global health problem that requires natural-based vector control strategies as an alternative to synthetic insecticides. This study aimed to identify secondary metabolites and evaluate the efficacy of Citrus reticulata (Blanco) peel extract as an ovicide in preventing the hatching of Aedes aegypti mosquito eggs. Extraction was performed using the maceration method with 70% ethanol for five days, followed by phytochemical analysis and ovicidal activity testing at concentrations of 0.3%, 0.5%, 1%, 5%, and 10% with four replicates using 25 eggs per treatment. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test and Tukey's extended test. Phytochemical testing revealed secondary metabolites of flavonoids, phenols, tannins, saponins, alkaloids, and steroids. Tukey's test showed the ovicidal efficacy of Citrus reticulata (Blanco) peel extract in preventing the hatching of Aedes aegypti eggs.
